Building Capacities to Avert New Technology Divides

UNIDIR

The rapid uptake of new and emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, quantum computing, and virtual worlds, can create transformative opportunities for efficiencies and growth, but also raises unique cybersecurity challenges. Inclusive partnerships and technology transfers with developing countries are necessary to prevent unequal access to these innovations, while the next generation of cyber capacity building should be fit-for-purpose to foster the security expertise new technologies demand.
• What partnerships and incentive structures can support the equitable access of developing countries to new technologies?
• How can new technologies like AI and virtual worlds benefit critical sectors, such as education, healthcare, and innovation, while enhancing the effectiveness of cyber capacity building?
• How should cyber capacity building efforts evolve to address the capacity needs required to reverse digital and security divides emanating from new technologies?
