Orhan Osmani is Head of the Cybersecurity Division in the Telecommunication Development Sector of ITU, leading a team dedicated to strengthening global cybersecurity. He brings over 20 years of experience in ICT, with more than 15 years in international development and a decade in the private sector. Prior to ITU, Orhan held information security roles in the Asia-Pacific region, working with consulting firms and companies such as Oracle, supporting both government and private sector clients.
His expertise spans network and application security, identity and access management, and emergency telecommunications. At ITU, he leads initiatives supporting developing countries, LDCs, SIDS, and LLDCs, including the Global Cybersecurity Index. He also previously worked in ITU’s emergency telecommunications division, assisting countries in post-disaster recovery. Orhan holds an engineering degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Information Technology.
