Mr. Juan Carlos Cubillo Miranda

Juan Carlos Cubillo Miranda has been the Deputy Chief of the Public Ministry since 2016. He holds a candidacy for a Ph.D. in Law from the State Distance University and a master’s degree in Criminal Sciences from the University of Costa Rica.
The official has over 30 years of service in the Judiciary. He began his career in 1990 as a prosecutor in a rural area. In the last two positions, he also served as a trial prosecutor.
He was the coordinating prosecutor for the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office for Economic, Tax, and Corruption Crimes.
In 2016, he was appointed as an assistant prosecutor 3, serving as the Deputy Chief of the Public Ministry.
In this role, since 2017, he has been responsible for representing the General Prosecutor’s Office in various processes of the Plenary Committee of the Convention on Cybercrime, known as the Budapest Convention
