Estefania Vergara Cobos is an Economist working at the Chief Economist Office for the Infrastructure Vice-Presidency of the World Bank in Washington D.C. She is a published researcher currently leading a study on the economic rationale of cybersecurity that seeks to estimate the economic costs of cybersecurity incidents. Estefania joined the World Bank in 2021; her overall work focuses on Digital Development, producing original scientific research into a broad range of issues relating to the digitization of developing nations, including cybersecurity matters. Before joining the World Bank, she served as a graduate and undergraduate Econometrics and Economics lecturer at Stony Brook University and Santa Clara University in the United States. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics and an extensive background in Computer Science.
