Spotlight #1: Triple-I

As part of its mission, GFCE has developed the GFCE Triple-I initiative that facilitates awareness raising and capacity building events in different regions of the world in order to enhance justified trust in the use of Internet and/or email in those regions through multi-stakeholder cooperation. Enhancing justified trust in Internet connections and email exchanges is achieved through awareness raising on a number of state-of-the-art open internet security standards and instigating take up of those by building on good practice experiences. Local and regional actors are stimulated and supported in setting up and running local/regional events between regional stakeholders, bringing in local expertise, when useful. GFCE Triple-I builds on the experience of multiple events around the world since 2018, and is firmly embedded in the GFCE’s mission of strengthening cyber capacity and expertise globally through international collaboration and cooperation.

Maarten Botterman, GFCE Triple-I coordinator, will present:

1. The mission of GFCE Triple-I
2. The “tools” available for progressing GFCE Triple-I:
1. The GFCE Triple-I Handbook: a guide towards which global Internet standards to apply and suggesting a number of good practices;
2. The GFCE Triple-I Playbook: a practical guide towards organizing regional events bringing in global experience based on the experience with the first series of event;
3. Overview of achievements to date;
4. Strategic outlook to a way forward.
