GC3B quote
A free, open, and secure digital world

The vision of the CyberPeace Institute for the GC3B

The GC3B is co-organized by the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise, the CyberPeace Institute, the World Bank, and the World Economic Forum, and hosted by the Ministry of Digitalisation and Communications of Ghana. It is a joint effort by international organizations that seek to address the challenges posed by cyberspace to ensure a free, open and secure digital future for all.

The CyberPeace Institute is an independent and neutral organization, that aims to protect the most vulnerable in cyberspace. The Institute investigates and analyzes the human impact of systemic cyber threats, delivers free cybersecurity assistance, tracks the enforcement of international laws and norms and forecasts threats to cyber peace.

They have provided a testimonial below on why they believe that the GC3B is necessary to elevate cyber resilience for development, and on their decision to co-organize the inaugural GC3B.

Civil Society Organisations are key to define cyber capacity building needs and to enable impactful solutions. This significance is particularly pronounced in developing countries where rapid digital connectivity expansion presents immense opportunities for economic and societal advancement.

However, the trend toward digitally enabled growth also exposes digital vulnerabilities in environments with limited cyber capabilities and skills, or weak infrastructure. The resulting cyber insecurity can impede, or even reverse, the progress achieved.

To mitigate these risks and threats, it is imperative to harness existing expertise and foster innovative collaborative efforts among a diverse range of stakeholders. This collaborative approach is crucial in order to build enduring cyber resilience.

It is high time to embark on a journey of co-designing an international, multistakeholder cyber capacity building agenda, aimed at fortifying the foundation of resilient societies.
