News Article | 27th October 2023

In September ‘22, the Global Cyber Expertise Magazine launched its 11th issue, with the GC3B as its cover story.

The magazine is a joint initiative by the African Union, European Union, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise and Organization of American States. It aims to provide cyber policymakers and stakeholders with insights on cyber capacity building projects, policies, and global developments.

In the 11th edition, they take a look at how the GC3B is making 2023 the year of cyber resilience for development. The article was written by the co-organizers of the GC3B and discusses the need to raise awareness of how cybersecurity is a key enabler of sustainable development, economic growth, and social prosperity. The article also explains the importance of cyber resilient development, providing insights from decision-makers in the field on why this is a critical issue now, and how the GC3B will tackle this issue by elevating global multi-stakeholder perspectives.

We would like to share with you some of the highlights from the article.

“Building cyber capacity, and ultimately ensuring public trust in digitally enabled systems… is paramount to realizing the digital transformation objectives of states and other actors across the globe as well as the United Nations’ Agenda 2030, particularly since each of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) either include digital components or can be augmented and realized via digital technologies.”

The GC3B will mark a before and after in the global cyber capacity building landscape, catalyzing global action for cyber resilient development and raising awareness on the ability of cybersecurity to enable sustainable development.
