Announcement of the Accra Call

On the 29th November 2023, during the opening ceremony of the inaugural Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building, the GC3B announced the “Accra Call for Cyber Resilient Development: An Action Framework“. The Accra Call marks a turning point in the global cybersecurity landscape, stimulating global action for cyber resilient development.

During the announcement, Senior Presidential Advisor H.E. Yaw Osafo-Maafo signed the Accra Call, in presence of Honourable Minister of Communications and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako. The Accra Call was endorsed by over +35 governments and organizations, including Microsoft, the United States, the European Union and the African Union amongst many others, and the number of endorsements keeps increasing, demonstrating international willingness to take action.

Governments and organizations across all sectors and regions affirm their willingness to voluntarily promote, pursue and coordinate efforts on sixteen specific actions to elevate cyber resilience across international and national development agendas. In addition, the actions in the framework aim at promoting cyber capacity building which supports broader development goals and effectively serves the needs of developing countries.

The wide range of support for the Accra Call from governments and organizations demonstrates the need to strengthen cyber capacity building efforts worldwide, and the willingness from all sectors to catalyze global action now for a safer and free digital future for all.
